More about this event
Urban Encounters was a two-day international conference held at Goldsmiths, University of London, bringing together photographers, artists and academics to explore photographic approaches to the representation and experience of city life. Through six themed panels covering urban landscapes, architecture, portraiture, street photography, visual ethnography and emerging photographic practice, speakers examined how photography shapes our understanding of urban space, identity, memory and community. The conference also included an associated exhibition, a photographic workshop and a programme of curated urban walks organised by Photofusion and the Centre for Urban and Community Research (CUCR), creating a multidisciplinary forum linking visual practice with urban research.
