For its tenth anniversary, Urban Encounters 2017: Cartographies brought together international artists, photographers, urban theorists and cultural activists to explore how we make sense of places through visual, sonic and photographic representations. The programme at Tate Britain included keynote talks, panel discussions, Q&As, artist interventions, a book fair and dialogue sessions, addressing themes of mapping, memory, representation, territory, digital and analogue image-making, and the politics of contemporary city spaces.
