Durham Folk Festival

3 linked events in the Culture Reverb archive.

First, a little introduction. If you weren’t aware of us until now, that’s not surprising. Until very recently, we were Hartlepool Folk Festival. Founded in 2015, HFF was for ten years the home of magical happenings, unforgettable experiences and the very finest in folk music. Unfortunately, the closure of the Borough Hall, our main-stage venue, in 2025 put the future of the festival at risk. With real regret, we concluded that the only way forward was to explore alternative locations. Sad as we are to leave Hartlepool, we’re delighted to have found a new home – and what a home. From medieval architecture to cobbled streets, Durham transports you back in time. Whether it’s the Land of the Prince Bishops or the beating heart of the Durham coalfield, there is so much to discover. Join us as we reveal all that this sublime location has to offer, with its two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, spectacular settings and boundless charm. And, of course, there will be the first-class events, fabulous music and warm welcome you came to expect at Hartlepool.
